Round 5 Football - SIR DOUG NICHOLLS ROUND

15 May by Michael Walsh

Evening Colts Families,

Round 5 is brought to us by our platinum plus sponsor BELLE Property Blackburn. Thanks to Adrian Stefanetti and the team for supporting the Colts!

Round 5 is Sir Doug Nicholls Round, recognising the culture of Indigenous Australians and the contribution of Indigenous Australian players to the sport.

To support the round the Colts will for the first time wear our new indigenous jumpers across all teams.

For those not aware, the story behind our indigenous design is as follows:

“The boomerang design and the hands down below represent being United and a family club. The two circles with white symbols around them, left is to represent men’s teams, right is women’s team. I added the third Circle above the men’s circle to represent the junior teams at the club the other people symbols represent all people who support, volunteer and spectate.
Then we have the footsteps along the line. This represent the country/ land you play on. Being in Box Hill, on Wurundjeri land and located near Bushy Creek, it represents you as a club, representing all those landmarks and playing together as one team. I added more hands down the bottoms to really highlight being United with one another and supporting each other as well as anyone else within your community. All circles in the back ground represent past players, representatives and legacy’s that have gotten your club to where it is today.”

We also have our Club Night 2 kicking off from 5:30pm. As always it will be a great opportunity for us to get together as a community and hear how our Netball and Football teams are going.

Looking forward to seeing everyone over the weekend!

Go Colts!
